CIDETEC presents the ECOXY Project at the Brussels BBI JU Stakeholder Forum

10/01/2018

CIDETEC Surface Engineering participated in the Bio-based Industries (BBI) Stakeholder Forum held last 6th and 7th of December in Brussels. CIDETEC contributed to ECOXY through a stand and a project presentation in its capacity as project coordinator.

The event assembled the industrial and academic community from the “Bio-based Industries” sphere to facilitate the exchange of ideas through open and constructive dialogue between stakeholders to the benefit of mutual collaboration.

The first day, held on the 6th of December, was exclusively reserved for coordinators and brought some 150 attendees together. On this occasion, during the session devoted to Forest and lignocellulosic based biomass, Dr Elena Jubete, representing CIDETEC, gave a brief presentation of the ECOXY Project. At the same time, throughout both days of the event, CIDETEC Surface Engineering manned a stand offering information about preliminary project results and exhibiting samples of the bio-based resins and fibres being developed.

The second day, 7 December, brought in over 500 attendees, with a total of 4 plenary sessions and 4 parallel workshops where different aspects related to bio-based industries were discussed.

With its participation at this event, CIDETEC – apart from publicising the ECOXY Project – has sought acquaintance with other ongoing BBI Joint Undertaking projects as well as their coordinators and the partners involved. In this way, it seeks to promote possible instances of collaboration and render CIDETEC Surface Engineering more visible as a BBI coordinator and reference partner.

ECOXY is a 4-year collaborative project on “Bio-based recyclable, reshapable and repairable (3R) fibre-reinforced EPOXY composites for automotive and construction sectors” participated in by 13 partners from 8 European countries, coordinated by CIDETEC.  It is funded by the BBI Joint Undertaking under the European H2020 Programme, with a budget of 4.85 million euro to develop bio-based resins and fibres with advanced features for the construction and automotive sectors.
