CIDETEC and AIMPLAS will review the opportunities offered by the automotive and transportation sectors regarding new composites at a seminar that will take place on June 16 at the Museum of Science in Donostia.

On 16 June, CIDETEC and AIMPLAS will present the latest innovations and developments in the field of composites and opportunities that are opening up for these materials in their application in the automotive and transportation sectors. To do so, they have jointly organized a technical seminar to be held at the Museum of Science in Donostia sponsored by GUZMAN GLOBAL, SABIC, POLYONE and SAERTEX, with the close collaboration of the Society of Automotive Technicians (STA).

In the initial section dedicated to materials, CIDETEC will review the latest developments in repairable, reprocessable and recyclable thermostable materials while SAERTEX will address the innovation in multiaxial fabrics for high pressure RTM. Meanwhile, SABIC will present its innovations in hybrid thermoplastic composites for the sector.

AIMPLAS will open the second section with a presentation on the reduction of carbon footprint that advanced composites offer, and MARISKONE will explain what business opportunities the industry of emerging processing technologies has in this area. Meanwhile, POLYONE will share their experience in weight and cost reduction through specialized solutions, while FRAUNHOFER ICT will present the possibilities of efficient preforming of complex geometries for high pressure RTM.

The session will draw to a close with a vision of the medium-term future of the sector and the role advanced composites aimed at the end user will play. For this, SISPRA will demonstrate the possibilities of 3D printing in carbon fibre in the immediate future, while ROBERT BOSCH will focus his presentation on the general prospects and opportunities that composites have for the sector.
